Orion Knifeworks Hand Sander / Sanding Stick for Knife Makers
The Orion hand sanding stick is the best tool available to knife makers to aid in hand sanding and finishing of knife blades. The ingenious design uses spring loaded clamps to securely hold 1" strips of your favorite sandpaper tightly in place so that you achieve the cleanest, most uniform hand sanded finish possible. This sanding stick has a variety of interchangeable inserts available to match any kind of blade grind. This includes both concave and convex grinds as well as flat grinds. The sanding stick is made from a durable polymer material and the inserts can be replaced over time as needed. You only need one sanding stick and the inserts can be swapped out quickly with an allen wrench. Switch back and forth from a flat insert, concave, convex or leather lined insert based on whatever your project may require.
The comfortable wide grip allows better control and prevents hand and finger fatigue compared to traditional hand sanding methods. Also, there is an added level of safety by placing you hands further away from the blade if desired. The adjustments and changing from grit to grit are quick and easy saving you time in the process.
Inserts:
Available in either a 1" or 2" wide insert size. The 1" wide side has a sanding area of 1" x 1" while the 2" wide size has a sanding area of 1" x 2".
"Hollow Inserts" are designed to use with bevels that have been hollow ground on a wheel or radius platen. Match the diameter of the insert with the diameter of the wheel/radius platen used to hollow grind.
